Transfer of Ownership (or Equity) is the process of changing who owns a property legally. It might mean someone being added or removed to the property ownership or an entire change of person(s). Firstly, all documentation will be gathered and we will obtain a copy of the property title deeds from the Land Registry. The solicitor will then:

  • Be able to confirm the provided information is accurate as per the Land Registry
  • Review the property deeds and title deeds
  • Prepare and organise the documents for the deed transfer for signing by all involved parties
  • Verify what Stamp Duty Land Tax will be payable for the property

After this, formal consent will need to be sought from all parties including the current co-owners and mortgage lenders. When funds are transferred and the paperwork is all signed then the equity transfer is completed.
